Get involved

The work we do here at Blue Dragon is very important, but we couldn’t do it without the help of our volunteers and supporters in Vietnam and throughout the world.

Here are some ways YOU can get involved!

1. Join our mailing list

Would you like to receive our quarterly Dragon Tales Newsletter and occasional emails from Blue Dragon?

2. Sponsor a child’s education

When families struggle to put food on the table, school fees are a luxury they simply cannot afford.

In Vietnam, countless children drop out of school before Grade 9 and are destined to repeat the cycle of poverty that has enslaved their families.

The only way to break this cycle is to keep the children in school, where they belong.

For $28AUD per month, you can sponsor a child’s education and support their entire school community.

Your monthly donation will pay for all school fees, uniforms, text books and stationery
for your sponsored child. In addition, impoverished schools will receive equipment and resources that all students can benefit from. Blue Dragon’s Educational Sponsorship helps a child in need right now, while also creating long term hope for schools and communities.

3. Fundraise

Join the fight against poverty!

Raising funds can be easy and fun. The possibilities are endless…

  • Have a monthly ‘dress casual day’ at your office and charge a small fee…
  • Invite friends to a meal at your home or in a restaurant, and ask for a donation on top of the cost of the meal…
  • Hold a walkathon or readathon in your school…
  • Shave your boss’ head, and get sponsors to pay you for it…
  • Organise a dinner or gala event with music and dance…

We encourage you to contact us before you organize an event, and also to check the laws of your state or country with regard to raising funds.

If you live in Australia an easy way to get support for your fundraising event is to use the website Gofundraise.

4. Volunteer

Blue Dragon is quite limited in the number of international volunteers we can accept, due to local laws, child protection, and the needs of the kids to have stability in their relationships.

We can sometimes accept volunteers through sponsored programs (such as AusAid programs or VSO) and also expats living in Hanoi for six months or more with spare time and skills that we need.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us, but keep in mind that we cannot accept everybody.

5. Spread the word

There’s something you can do right now to help fight poverty – spread the word!
Raising awareness is the first step in fighting poverty. The more people know, the better equipped they are to help.

Tell everyone you know to visit the Blue Dragon website and read the blog so they can see for themselves the challenges the children in Vietnam are facing and the important work we are doing to make their lives better.

Tell your family, friends, school, church or company that the kids of Vietnam need their help!

6. In-Kind donations

Blue Dragon is always in need of items to pass on to families in need or to use in our residential facilities and our drop-in centre.

However, shipping taxes can be quite costly for us, so we request that in-kind donations be made by people living or travelling in Hanoi.

Please contact us if you would like to support us with an in-kind donation. Our staff will gladly send you a list of our current needs.

7. Donate

Blue Dragon relies on support from the generous people who believe in our work. Nearly 40% of our funding comes from individual donors. Every amount, large or small, is appreciated and needed.
