Tools of the trade

Shoe Shine Boys
These boys have come to Hanoi from the countryside in the hope of earning money to support their families. While they can make up to $5 a day (considered a lot in Vietnam) they have sacrificed their education to do so.
Rough sleeper
After working all night on the streets, “P” sleeps through the day in a park in central Hanoi.
Pipes
Blue Dragon staff noticed the blankets in these pipes on a construction site – and found two young boys sleeping under them.
Keeping warm
In a narrow concrete cavity in the dike wall running parallel to Hanoi’s Red River, children sleep under plastic sheets and debris. This hides them from the view of passersby, and during winter keeps them a little warmer and (hopefully) dry.
Parked
Many children work through the night, and sleep through the day wherever they can lay their head.
